The Mother Wound is the collective trauma of womanhood that's passed down through the generations from mother to daughter. It shows up as jealousy, competition, eating disorders disguised as dieting, low self-esteem and negative body image, strained relationships between mothers and daughters, shame around the body, sex, and sexuality, the inability to experience orgasm, fear of pleasure and intimacy, and a profound longing to belong shared by all women.
It is the unresolved pain of abuse, sexual assault, womb imbalances, miscarriage, and infertility. It is the wholesale denial of a woman's right to be fully self-expressed on her own terms. It's pervasive and insidious. But instead of talking about it and calling it out, we're pushing it further and further down into the shadows. And we know all too well what happens when you hide stuff there.
I'm Melissa Danielle, and I'm creating a safe space for women to show up in the fullness of womanhood, in sisterhood, collaboration and community for the change the world needs and has been waiting for. In my own life, the Mother Wound has shown up as self-sabotage, playing small, and having a fractured relationship with my mother. It has affected me physically, financially, and in ways I've yet to discover.
The health coaching relationship can be much more than getting you to follow and stick with yet another weight loss plan. Because that's not what you need. If you're an ambitious, creative woman over 35 who's ready to stretch into the discomfort so you can heal and show up more powerfully in your life, I invite you to book a health coaching session with me.
Through my own process of recovery, I learned that there's a limit to what you can do on your own. Recovering from the Mother Wound requires all hands on deck. Depending on your experiences, you may need any combination of doctors, therapists, healers, coaches, and a support network to help you get unstuck and move forward in your healing.
